" "The Don’t hide your face" series was created as part of the Gaude Polonia program of the National Cultural Center. For half a year I worked on the project in the graphic expansion workshop at the Academy of Fine Arts. Eugene Heppert in Wroclaw.

The theme of my project was the history of the famous figure of Janusz Korczak.

During the First and Second World Wars, a Polish-Jewish doctor and writer worked in orphanages for Ukrainian and Jewish children. In 1942 he found himself in the Warsaw Ghetto. Several times they tried to save Janusz from there, but he refused to leave the children he cared for, and as a result he voluntarily went to the gas chamber with his pets.

I was fascinated by the fact that despite all the complexity of the situation and circumstances, Janusz did not submit to a system that is ruthless even to children, but remained true to his views, which became an example of the greatest freedom. His spirit could not be killed.

During the residency, I had the time and opportunity to learn more about this man's life and the Polish ghetto during World War II."
